Somatic Coaching

Cultivate the full intelligence of your body for greater wellbeing, aliveness and sustained change.

The Promise of an Embodied Approach

  • The word Somatics comes from the Greek root soma which means "the living organism in its wholeness." It is the best word we have in English to understand human beings as an integrated mind/body/spirit, and as social, relational beings.

Somatic coaching takes a fundamentally different approach to change and transformation. Somatics, or embodiment, is a transformative change theory that allows us to align our actions, behaviors, and ways of being toward the future that matters most to us… while under pressure.

While most coaching modalities take a “top-down” approach by focusing on our “thinking” change and growth is often not sustained because much of our safety conditioning is operating below the neck - under our conscious awareness.

Somatic coaching works with and through the body to access and cultivate the full intelligence of our entire nervous system and transform old survival strategies into embodied and purposeful action. So, when we are under pressure, we can make the moves required to create the future and outcomes that are most important to us.

Somatic coaching is for anyone looking for greater wellbeing, increased resilience, sense of direction and purpose, and more effective action under pressure.

“Just because we have an insight that we should do something differently does not mean that we can make that new move - especially when we are under pressure.”

Meet the Coach

Aaron Kinnart (he/him/his)

I work with people who have a desire to make a positive impact in the world; one that returns us to more balance, equity, and wellbeing.

For the last 25 years, I have been working with individuals and groups to connect more deeply with what matters and transform from old ways of survival to more life affirming, generative ways of living and working.

  • “I had the pleasure and great professional benefit of working with Aaron.  He guided me through a powerful learning process about my leadership both in my current role and more broadly that has truly made a difference for me both professionally and personally.  Aaron combines skill, experience, and an extensive coaching toolkit, with a remarkable emotional intelligence and intuition. He creates a powerful customized experience that is incredibly engaging, deep, and effective.”

Kate Williams | CEO, 1% for the Planet

  • “I have been on two Journeys now and they have been the most profound and rewarding personal development experiences I have ever encountered.   I came back energized, calm, focused and with clear conviction about the next steps in my work and my life…and with life-long friends too.”

Simon Brown, Managing Director, Lead Eagle Ltd.

  • "As a mom, wife, daughter, friend and leader, one of my biggest challenges is to be present. To be there whole heartedly and do one thing at a time. Aaron has given me the tools to stay present and to connect in the moment, both with myself and others around me. The toolbox and exercises he provides are easily deployed. I use them as I am preparing for a big meeting or transferring from one role to the other. I can whole heartedly recommend Aaron’s method, approach and his dedication to the people he works with."

Hanneke Willenborg, Chief Marketing Officer | Seventh Generation

  • "I've had the pleasure of working with Aaron as my coach recently. Aaron is a masterful coach who quickly gets to the root of the matter by asking powerful questions, intuitively listening, and sharing his keen observations and insights. I have experienced tremendous growth, both professionally and personally, through my experience working with Aaron. I highly recommend Aaron as a coach to any organization or individual looking for a partner to help them reach their goals."

A proven map to guide the way.

The embodied transformation methodology has developed over the last 50 years by the Strozzi Institute. By incorporating body-centered practices, we access and cultivate the interconnected intelligence of body, mind, and emotions, leading to profound and lasting change.

Here’s some of the terrain you can expect to travel…

Somatic Awareness:

Our work will begin by cultivating Somatic Awareness to develop your capacity to access and feel the language of the body, the language of sensation. Cultivating somatic awareness allows you to live within your own body in a grounded and reliable way while accessing your own wisdom, competence, and intuition.

Somatic Practices:

Somatic Practices allow you to cultivate new habits of thoughts, actions, and expand emotional range in order to be with more complexity while staying connected to yourself, others, and the outcomes that matter most to you. In essence, we are retraining or “reshaping” the nervous system towards a future that we care about.

Somatic Opening:

Our reactions and embodied ways of being live deep in our somatic structures. We cannot simply build new skills on top of old safety strategies. When we acknowledge the intelligence of these structures (instead of resisting them), we can start to unwind the habitual responses that get in our way.
